Code Compliance

Storey County Building Codes are adopted and enforced by Storey County to ensure that structures in which we live, work, and play meet recognized minimum standards for protection against:

  • Explosion
  • Fire
  • Health hazards
  • Structural collapse
  • Other potential dangers

Code Enforcement

Storey County strives to continually improve the standards of construction by publicizing information on building codes and, ultimately, through enforcement of all codes. Code violations that are reported by the public or other agencies are investigated in a timely manner for validity by code compliance investigators. If deemed a code violation, the responsible party may receive a civil penalty.

We take great pride in responding quickly to complaints from the public and county personnel of alleged land use, grading, and building code violations to secure code compliance. Suspected code violations can be reported to the Code Enforcement Violations Officer.
