It is my pleasure to announce the finalists for the position of Storey County Manager:
Interviews by the Board of County Commissioners are scheduled for March 19, 2019. After the interviews, the Board will either select one of these candidates or instruct staff to re-advertise for the position.
The following is a summary of the recruitment process to date:
The position announcement on our website and on GovernmentJobs.com was viewed 243 and 205 times. A total of 18 applications were submitted. Our consultant and I reviewed those applications and selected 9 for telephone interviews. One candidate was deemed not qualified, and one did not respond in time for the telephone interview, leaving 7 candidates. These candidates were invited to interview before two panels, one made up of Storey County citizens and the other made up of Storey County staff members. Prior to the interviews, 3 applicants withdrew their names from consideration. The reasons for those withdrawals were related to the salary offered for the position, the residency requirements, i.e., the County Manager must live within the boundaries of Storey County, and a promotional opportunity offered at a current position.
Two panels interviewed four candidates on February 26, 2019. Each of these panels had different questions for the candidates as well as a different perspective on the position. The top two candidates from each of the panels was selected for a final interview with the Storey County Board of County Commissioners.
