Code Compliance

Storey County Building and Fire Codes are enforced by Storey County Community Development to ensure that structures in which we live, work, and play meet recognized minimum standards.

Code Enforcement

Storey County strives to continually improve the standards of construction by publicizing information on building codes and, ultimately, through enforcement of all codes. Code violations that are reported by the public or other agencies are investigated in a timely manner for validity by building, fire or nuisance investigators. If deemed a violation of ordinance, the responsible party may be criminally cited, civil penalties or administratively fined .

We take great pride in responding quickly to complaints from the public of alleged violations. Suspected code violations can be reported to us by email at building@storeycounty.org, calling the office at (775) 847-0966 or in person at 110 East Toll Road, Virginia City, Nevada.
