- How many vehicles am I allowed to have on my property?

You are allowed to have as many registered and insured vehicles as you want. Only two junk/unregistered vehicles are allowed.
- Can I build a shed on my property without a permit?

Only if there is a primary use established, typically a Single-Family Residence, and it is 200 square feet or less without electrical, plumbing, or mechanical.
- How are inspections requested?

Call (775-847-0966) or email, (building@storeycounty.org) provide permit number, address, inspection scope and site contact information.
- Can I have water delivered in lieu of a well?

No, Refer to County Code 15.12.090, Water Source Required.
- Is camping allowed?

Camping is not an allowed use on any parcel within the county.
- Can I store a container, boat, vehicles, equipment, and miscellaneous items on my property?

No storage of any kind is allowed on any unimproved lot. Storey County Code 17.12.080 Open storage.
- Is a tiny home allowed?

Specifically defined “Tiny” homes are not allowed. 401 square feet minimum is allowed in the E-40-VR estates. Storey County Code 17.40.050 Setback and minimum floor area requirements.
- Can I build a garage/shop before my house?

Only if an active construction permit has been issued for the principal building and is being built concurrently with the home.
- During construction can I live in a trailer?

A temporary trailer permit may be issued at the discretion of the building official for one travel trailer or motor home connected to a permanent water source and sewer or septic system, as the owner's living quarters during construction of a single-family residence. 15.04.060 Storey County building construction standards.
